Slot machines are among the most popular games both online and at regular casinos. This has been true for many years thanks to the ability to win big as well as the fact that they do not take a lot of skill.

But with that being said, there are a lot of people who believe many misconceptions about the game. These myths can get you off track, and can cause you to lower your chances of success when playing.

Here are three myths that are often times associated with slot machines. You should always keep these in mind so that you can stay on course.

1. One of the biggest myths of slot machines is that hot machines will stay this way game after game. But the fact of the matter is that this is not the case. You should keep in mind that slot machines are based on random number generators. This means that even if a machine is hot, it could go cold in a heartbeat; and vice versa.

2. To go along with the myth above, if you keep getting close to winning with each pull you may think that you are about to “breakthrough.” But once again, this is not the case. Simply put, when it comes to slot machines being close is nothing to get excited about. All in all, this is just another losing combination. It does not mean that you are getting closer to winning.

3. For those who play slot machines at a land based casino, take this myth to heart. Pulling the handle and pressing the “play” button are exactly the same. There is no evidence that shows if you do one or the other that you are going to have a better chance of winning.

The next time you are playing slot machines, either online or off, keep these three myths in mind. This way you will not be fooled into thinking that you can do something special to change your luck.
